studio P configures blogger to look elegantly clean

Agnethe Glatved, a talented art director, was looking for a clean, simple showcase for her work. She wanted to create the site quickly, and to be able to update it easily. Studio P suggested a Blogger blog, modified to suit Agnethe’s visual needs. (Studio P’s website is a Blogger one, too.) The great thing about Blogger is that is is free, and the user interface is very straight forward. Agnethe came up with a design direction, and Studio P implemented it. All in a couple of days. A while ago I purchased a mixed set of letterpress type on ebay, and am happy to say that it comes in very handy. The wee teas shown above are a big seller on gleena.com, my ceramics website. It's just so satisfying to feel the embossed letter form on a cup shape. Unfortunately, much of what I create on paper gets either filed or thrown away. With clay as my medium, the design is interacted with and enjoyed daily.

studio P collaborates with schwa design on Huth Architects ID

I had the pleasure of collaborating on the Huth Architects’ identity with Josh Silverman of schwa design. Josh came up with the logo, I tweaked the proportions and the spacing of the letter forms and applied the logo to the stationery items. Josh then adjusted the proportions of the business card, putting the finishing touches on this elegant package.

Press proofs are so graphic, it's a shame all the bleed, crop and registration marks get trimmed off.

It’s been years since I have been “on press” to see a print job run. Back in my small design studio days, if the job was a book, for example, going on press was torturous. It entailed a lot of waiting around for the press to get up to speed, for all the dust to be removed, for the color to be balanced. It’s really an art running the offset presses, and it is fascinating to watch. Today’s press run was simple, one color, small business card, a breeze. Big thank you to Richard at Colonial Printing for making it all super easy. Here are the results:

Karen’s card is so bright, it pops out in the midst of all this machinery.

We spent a bit of time getting the color saturated (a juicy raspberry pink), and the ink coverage as even as possible on an uncoated paper stock. The card goes well with Karen's website, click here to view.
